Picture Perfect

Guess what! I have new pictures for my bedroom! Can I get a woooo?

This room is going to be one that is really going to have to evolve over time, since I'm not sure exactly what my vision is for it (I haven't even gotten a bedspread yet). What I am sure about is the pieces coming together in the end.

So of course I went to my favorite store in the whole wide world to look at some things and when I say look I mean drool over everything that I wished I had the money to buy. Luckily, this girl was able to get something!

Item #1
Item #2

The day I took them home I was trying to figure out where they would go. Here's what I was thinking:

The first picture will go over my dresser that is in between my closets.

Don't mind the horrible jewelry box that has nothing in it. It's about that time to do some winter cleaning.

The other picture will go right above my TV.

Right now, I'm not sure if it will be too overwhelming but I need something there.

After these are hung I will only have one more wall to do and that's over my bed. I'm thinking about making an headboard like the one here, and here; I just have to find the time, or better yet, make time to do it.

Not sure what fabric I would want to go with but I was thinking something that goes along with the first picture and having a white duvet. If I don't go with a busy headboard, I would want to go with a blue or brown one with a comforter like the ones here or here. Hopefully, I will make a mood board to see what really works soon since I don't want to miss the sale on the items. Then again, rushing to make a decision just to save a couple of bucks isn't always worth it.

I think the duvet would make a wonderful pop, but the blue and brown comforter would add more color. I don't think the tan one would do much justice since the floors are a tan color and the walls are a grey tan. Well good to know I have crossed one thing off the list.

But back to pictures...

Over the bed I am thinking of getting three frames/canvases in line with each other like here.

Can't wait to see this all come together. I'm going to put a time limit on this room for Phase 1 to be by the summer. Hopefully I can stay on track!

Putting it Together Again

For once I feel like I am actually accomplishing something since the upstairs bathroom is somewhat complete. Here's the checklist:

  •  Hang up pictures
  • Find a new shower curtain
  • Hang up shower rod
  • Maybe put a glass shelf over the toilet
  • Add a frame around the mirror
  •  Maybe paint the vanity black or blue

The first bullet is crossed out only half way because I still need to find a few more pictures, but here are the new pictures that we got for the bathroom:

I adore them! They were on sale at Kirkland's for $10 a few months ago (more like the fall). I was hoping to get more off with the Kirkland's app (Kirkland's Spin to Win) but the odds weren't in my favor. At least I can be happy that I have something to hang up.

But to get to what you all have been waiting for, the now beautiful spa bathroom.

"Isn't she lovely, isn't she wonderful!" And let's see where we were a month ago.

I don't even want to remember the old anymore since I am in love with everything in this room.  Here's a source list of everything:

Shower curtain: Bed Bath & Beyond -$40
Paint: Valspar Prairie Willow in Semi-Gloss ~$40
Wall Patch Kit: $10
Picture: Kirkland's- $10
Total: $100

These little updates make everything worth it! I still plan on getting a shelf to go over the toilet, finding another picture, and paint the letter "B" we have either brown or light blue. Right now I don't mind the rugs being two different colors since we already had them, but eventually I may die the blue one brown in some spots so that the blue still comes through.

Since in this bathroom the floor and vanity is actually white, I don't mind keeping the vanity that color. I think painting it would take away from the other pops of colors.

Overall, as you can tell, I am very happy with the way this turned out and can't wait to see what else may pop up in my head for this room.

Until then, see you next time!

Beauty in the Beast

Since last month, I've been working on the upstairs bathroom and boy has it been a treat. Yesterday, I finally finished it (procrastination at it's best). I had a lovely helper in the beginning, my wonderful sister Bianca, but she has my niece to attend to so it was just me, myself, and I to finish. Here's a picture of her working hard:

Is it me or does she look kinda bored?

Let's now fast forward a month and some days and now we are here:

Doesn't it look a lot lighter? Not just because i replaced only one light bulb to the same ones that are down stairs in the half bath, or cleaned those nasty light fixtures... it may just be the paint. Speaking of paint, in the before picture the walls where tealish but more blue. Now they are a nice calm green. This time I went with a kitchen and bath paint, which is much thicker than flat paint, but still have low odor and zero VOC like the other Valspar paint.

The one of the right is the clean one. Finally the beauty comes out in those lights.

I really do like those bright lights. I may not have them in a bedroom, unless it is really small, but in a bathroom it makes the room feel so much bigger and lighter considering there are no windows.

You may also have noticed the quality of my images have gotten clearer. That's because I got a new camera (Thank God for parents)! Woooo!!!

Here are the plans I have for this room:
  •  Hang up pictures
  • Find a new shower curtain
  • Hang up shower rod
  • Maybe put a glass shelf over the toilet
  • Add a frame around the mirror
  •  Maybe paint the vanity black or blue
I can tell this room is going to be way easier to put together than the other rooms in the house.

Next on my list is the last bathroom in this house, the master bath.
