Worry No More

Picking a bed spread has to be one of the most difficult things to do, especially if you are not looking at it in person. So here's a few selections and this time I would love to know which one you think is the winner!

Ticking Time Bomb

For the last week, I really didn't know what to expect. After the peeling of the walls, I felt like life was over! Fortunately, I still was optimistic and now at the end  middle of a long journey.

So here's the room all painted (I tried to capture as less mess as possible).

There's still some imperfections in the paint peeling wall but it's not as noticeable as it was in the last post.

After taking the tape down from the ceiling, the damage wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (Well not bad at all). None of the ceiling was taken off like I thought. The only problem was paint on the ceiling from the last two times the room was painted which is why I bought ceiling paint my first trip to home depot.

To sum everything up, this wasn't as stressful as I thought it would be. I think the only reason is because my sister took on most of the sanding of the walls in the room.

Eventually, I will paint all the base boards and trim again because as you can see paint doesn't seem to stay on the walls.

It only took 1.5 cans of paint. So I still have enough to paint the closets if I ever feel like unscrewing everything and putting it back up.

Make a Miracle Happen

I've recently been working on a room in the house that is by far one of the most difficult rooms I've ever done. Before I go into details, I'm sure you would like to know which room I am talking about.

Welcome to the world of pink. (Model: Zahra Ariana)
This is my oldest sister room and it has gone through a lot! The walls behind the bed and TV were yellow before they went back to pink. On top of that, when my mom painted the room she didn't think about wiping down the walls.

From afar this room looks pretty good in the pictures until we get up closer.

Problem #1:
The tape was left on the ceiling when the room got painted last and paint got onto the ceiling.

Problem #2:
All the outlets weren't taken off when the room got painted either of the times.

Problem 3:
It's hard to tell in this picture if you don't know how it looks in person, but all the walls had dust particles under the paint which requires a bunch of sanding of the ENTIRE wall. (Had to do this to the TV wall also).

Problem #4 (sneak peak of color):
Trying to become creative with the materials I had on hand, I decided that I would just cover the holes with spackle and around the outlets to try to have a smooth surface. Let's just say it didn't work out as planned when it comes to the outlets.

It's a good thing that I just did one outlet first to test it out. This is the beauty of it, I didn't get a picture of it when it got worst. Just imagine layers and layers of paint coming off the wall to where you see the pink in the middle of the yellow (the original wall color). Well when we got to the bottom of the outlet, the wall went with it. I literally had my head in a hole and not wanting to come out.

As you can tell I'm not of to an easy start, but that doesn't mean that I won't come out on top. Luckily, I don't get stressed out when problems keep arising because I know in the end everything will come out the way it is supposed to.

But let's get away from these problems. Let's talk about wall color!

Here's the lucky winner from about 50 selections. It is called Silver Screen by Behr. The picture does not give it justice since it looks a lot darker. At first, I wasn't too sure about it because I'm so used to everything being dark. Once I started putting it on the wall and  it dried, I fell in love!

The room is coming along great though, if you are wondering why it is taking so long. I have just a small part of the bed wall left and the entire TV wall then it will be 1/4 complete. What's left to be done after that? Well I'll let you know when reveal day comes and that should be soon! I ran out of paint so back to Home Depot I go. Hopefully I will get done with it tonight and I just may have a reveal for you Thursday morning or Friday morning. I'm not making any promises, but until then stay tuned!

I'm also making some changes to the website. Project section is complete for now, since I only have one project, but there is a lot more to come. The home tour section is on my list to finish!

Paint, Paint, and More Paint

A few months ago I came across a letter "B" my younger sister had and decided that I was going to paint it.

Since it was only going to be hanging on the wall, I decided to use acrylic paint from Walmart.

I used the sponge brush to paint on the tan paint first just to see how well it would cover.

This is it after the first coat.

And now the second.

Once it dried I started to painting with teal and brown. I didn't know what I wanted to do exactly; I just knew that I wanted to paint it so that I can hang it in the bathroom. I painted each diamond with a small angle brush. After one coat, this is how it looked.

And here it is after the second.

After drying for a couple of days here's the final result:

Overall I like it, but I'm not going to hang it on the wall by itself. I'm thinking about placing it in a frame on the wall for it to be more dramatic.

Something isn't the same anymore...

This week I found myself in Kirkland's and you know what that means... I must have picked up something (Did I mention I was lucky enough to walk in on a sale).

Well I did more than just get stuff, I actually hung some pictures up also!

If we go back to 2.5 months ago (I know it's really sad), I told you that I bought some pictures for my room in this post. Yesterday, I finally got the urge to hang one of them and another picture that I haven't shown you.

I need to find something that will go under this picture. It would be nice to have a chair and ottoman but since the desk is in the room there is no point in having two chairs. Later down the line I can always take the desk out and put a dresser there and then put a chair under the picture, but until then, there will be an empty space ready to be filled.

The Live, Laugh, Love picture hasn't been put up yet because I have to decide what pictures I want to show off in it. Hopefully, I will make a decision in the next two weeks.

Another surprise is that I got a picture for the half bathroom downstairs. I know that the walls have been feeling lonely lately so I had no choice but to make it somewhat appealing.

I plan on putting a white shelf underneath it and finding some kind of accessories to go on it. This bathroom still has a long way to go like a new rug and more accessories but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Meanwhile, there's one more picture on the list in another part of the house that didn't get hung yet (And I thought I was on the roll). The reason why is because I hung all the pictures above with command strips but this picture seemed way heavier than all the rest. I decided it was best to hang it with nails so that I won't look sad when I come into the bathroom and see it shattered on the floor one day.

I plan on putting this picture over the toilet in the upstairs bathroom here:

I've been on my "A" game this week  yesterday. I actually did more than just buy and hang pictures. I was able to get to a project that has been calling my name since forever.

The Wait is OVER!

So about a couple of weeks ago I decided to tackle the master bathroom and bedroom at once. As you can tell, that didn't go as planned.

A month ago, here is how the room looked.

Sorry for the horrible pictures, but due to a hoarder my mother I had to hide some a lot junk.

I didn't start on the room until a week after the bathroom update or maybe later since we had an ice storm but enough with the excuses; here's the final result.

Feels and looks nice doesn't it?

This time I used Behr and I liked the coverage a lot better than Valspar even though the price was $9 more. It took two cans for this room which brings the total for paint to ~$63.

Still have a lot more to do (accessories, bed spread, furniture),but hopefully it will get taken care of before the summer.

Next room in the house is either the living room or my older sister's room, I should have a decision by the end of the week.

I promise that I won't stay away for too long again :)!
