Room Reveal

Just because it's the last day of April, here's an extra post just for you!

First, I want to say thank you for those that take time out of your day to help me out and let me know what you are thinking. It means a lot to me and makes me feel as if I'm not the only one there. You are greatly loved and appreciated.

At the beginning of this week, I let you all in on a secret about another room getting a makeover and the responses were all over the place, but I like it that you actually said something. I left a hint before I closed out on my last post, but don't know if it clicked in anyone's head, but here is the clue:

"It's going to be loads of fun!"

If you still aren't with me, it's ok, no need to feel bad or anything. I know I was the main one that always didn't get the clues when the teacher would give you the answer in a hidden form. It just takes practice. If you still haven't figured it out, here's my new project:

Were you expecting this? I wasn't until I found myself on pinterest looking at laundry rooms all night last week. Here's how it looks now, but don't judge us because of the mess (I'm sure i'm not the only one).

And here's a mood board to let you see what I'm going for.

I'll have a break down for you tomorrow for what each item means. In the mean time, If you want my updates directly, you can subscribe by email at the top right of this page. All you will get is an email for when I post a post.

1,000 and Something

Since I've started my blog Wednesday, October 30th, 2013, I didn't know what to expect or what to even write. Eventually, it started to come to me and I got the hang of it after reading a ton of other blogs just like mines. I can say that it's not easy at all and it takes time to get to where you want to be, but i'm slowly getting there. I'm reatlly proud of my accomplishments and I'm very happy that I am experiencing something that I always wanted to experience. You don't know how much it means for a goal of yours to actually happen when all your other goals have crashed into the wall. Eventually the mess will get cleaned up because a lot of things happen for a reason.

Today hit the 1,000 view mark for me and I've been waiting for this moment for a while. I didn't think that I'll hit that mark today, but waking up and seeing that made my day! So today I would like to share with you my favorite room. Some of you may have figured it out, others may have not, but here she is:

I've worked hard on this room, and even though I'm not near finished it's one that if I didn't do anything else to it, I would be happy with it no matter what. It's also the most popular on this page which makes me feel like my pride and joy is one that you do appreciate also. I do believe this room will be the first one completed in the house because I'm determined to make my vision happen. It may not be all the way clear, but it will be soon.

I'm proud to say that I have now found my path. I don't know where it will take me, but I'm open to all of it's opportunities. With that being said, I will be looking for a few people to let me design a room in their home. Whether it's just paint or creating a vision for you to follow along as time passes. If you are interested, contact me at brij1992(at)hotmail(dot)com. Also, if you want to know when I post you can subscribe via email on the top right of this page. All you will get is an email letting you know that there is a new post.

p.s Tomorrow you will know which room is the lucky winner for my new project!

Look Up at Me Now

So a couple of weeks ago I started on the ceiling in Bianca's room, let's just say it's coming along. I didn't know how time consuming it would be but lesson learned. Here's the progress that we made:

We went from hideous to I think I can stand this room a little now.

To boy, I never knew how much more wonderful a room could get:

I pretty much used the angle brush to go over everything after i tried using the smallest brush ever so that I wouldn't have to make any touch ups. Well if I was smarter I would've realize the angle brush was the answer to all of my worries. I didn't end up finding that out until I wanted the process to go much faster. In end, I still had to do the entire trim line where the ceiling and wall meet which didn't take as much time at all.

With the air not coming on much, I found myself about to die, but I managed to push through it as you can see. I'm happy with how it turned out, even though it's not a complete match, over time it will start to blend as it gets older. The only way I was ever going to have a complete match is if I painted the entire ceiling over and that was a NO NO! We'll save the project when I decide to paint a ceiling an entirely different color.

Be on the look out for some interesting stuff happening in the house, it's going to be loads of fun! If you think you know what room is next leave a comment below!

Oooo JoAnn

So I recently went into JoAnn's for the first time and must I say I was in heaven. The reason you may ask... Well I need a headboard for this dead spot on my wall.

But who has money to go buy a headboard? Not I, so it's time for some DIY! My old bed frame is no longer being used and the poles can come off. I thought long and hard about this so I'm hoping it will work better than finding some cardboard or plywood and cutting it into the shape that I need for the headboard. If you don't know how my old bed looked here it is:

I'll just be using the part that has all the hearts and not the poles.

Sounds so simple and easy right? Well I hope so. Back to JoAnn's. I went there to look for some fabric to cover the headboard and while there I got mad about the decision I made with my bedspread. Yep, I am on the verge of wishing I went with the white one since it is so easy to find something that matches to it. But here are some of the fabrics that stuck out to me... and the lovely model.

This is my favorite one. If only I had the white bead spread I would've picked it up that day and never turned back.

And to go wild, here's one I may have done with the white also.

I also like the one in the middle with the blue and gray the most out of all of these.

The one I liked the most is the second one (diamond-like).

But of course none of these match my bedspread so I'm going for a simple color, all brown. How boring... I know, but when ever I decide to cough up some change to get a white bead spread, it will have to do. I'm thinking of a brown, beige, or a dark green headboard but I'm still thinking very hard about it.

I know that my dilemma is going to be making everything smooth and not allowing the batting to fall through and getting it to stay in one place. Right now i'm going towards the duct tape route since staples won't be able to go into the headboard. Hopefully, when I do this project it will all work out the way I vision it in my head. I'll put the deadline for the end of the May, but if I don't make it don't hold it against me it will at least get done!

Here is what the final result should look similar to:

Let's all pray that it looks this good!

Give Me a B!

Well I'm back at it with the crafts again this week. Last Monday, I started painting this little fellow here and had been working on it all week.

Since I had white paint from a while ago, I figured why not use this and not let it go to waste. The story behind it is... I went to Lowe's and asked for ceiling paint and the lady told me that white paint should work fine. Well long story short it didn't.

Last week I had finally bought the right ceiling paint. The reveal on Bianca's room will be coming shortly next week if everything goes as planned.

Back to the crafts.

First, I painted the entire B white. It took two coats, but I did a third coat just in case.

Afterwards, I started painting purple on the background. I did three coats for this also.

And here is the finished project:

Here's the cost breakdown:

White Paint: Already had (Don't remember how much it was though)
Purple Acrylic Paint (PLAID): ~$1
"B": Already Had

So the total comes to $1! AWESOME!

Picture Frame Heaven

Since I had some white paint still left over in the container from a craft, I decided to go ahead and paint the picture frame I had. Of course I didn't think to take a picture until I started the project so here it is before.

And after:

I used flat paint that you can paint with on the wall.  I also made the picture insert on Photoshop.

This is a free project for me since I've had the picture frame for about four years ago and the paint was from  a project you will see Monday.

What's New?

Well leaving from the DIY for a post here but it still contributes to it.

I hope you may see some changes to the site? If not let me introduce you to them!

1. In the House Tour section, I've added some floor plans that can allow you to better understand the layout of everything. I know you all are probably wondering how many more rooms I have left that I can put my touch on because I know that I would be wondering about the same thing! Hopefully in the future there will be more than just one house underneath this section, my own, but that won't be until another five years or so.

Don't worry though, we tend to forget that outside is also a room that needs to be tended to EVERY year and that after a while things change around the house like the seasons. New bedspreads could pop up, a new paint color could jump out the can, who knows what will happen. Let's noT forget about doing other homes also. Ooops, did I let the cat out the bag? Well you can look forward to some house therapy given to some other houses in the near future.

Okay, let's move on to what's next on the list.

2. Well if I be darned... the Projects section finally got a friend under it and let's just say that it won't be lonely for long. I have other projects that need to be done, just have to get myself to do it! It will get done though!

3. Lastly, We got a new tab on the loose. Paint Colors! Even though I have discussed what colors were used where in the posts, who wants to go through all those post looking for what could be hard to find. So your search has been made easier!

So what's next? Oh wouldn't you like to know!

B's are the Way of Life

Today it's a short post since I went A-wall on you again.

Exactly a month ago, I found myself doing my first DIY craft. Even though it took more time then I thought it would be, it was worth it in the end.

Today, I finally got a frame for it AND.... wait for it... HUNG IT UP! I know, I know, it only took a month but it's finally up. So here it is:

Beautiful isn't she!

I got the frame from Wal-Mart and luckily I went when I did because that was the last one. It's not what I was looking for but it does the job. I had wanted a white frame with a clear background but that would've required me to take a trip all the way to Augusta. I think it adds the contrast the bathroom needs though. Now let's look at the list of things to do next:

        • Hang up the picture I bought at the beginning of this year (shame, shame)
              • Paint the baseboards over
              • Add a shelf over the toilet
I think that's about it for now. This room is almost on my complete list and I'm happy to finally see it all coming together again. Now it's time to go and do what I am supposed to be doing, cleaning up around the house. How fun is that!

Royalty

So out of the many bedspreads I had showed you all a few weeks ago.. only one can win. Let's just say that I was in love with almost all of them but it wasn't up to me in the end. So let's just say it's purple! Could you have guessed that from the post title? If not, it's OK!

But on another note, I've been really lazy lately or the better saying is busy. Moving up in the world is not easy but learning to manage everything at once will eventually come to me. On to more details though.

I really don't want to tell you which one, because I want it to be a secret until the room is almost done, but I can't do that to you. So the winner is option E!

I can tell you that those other comforters might be somewhere in a future house of mines though!

There's a lot more to come in the near future! Hopefully I will get the ceiling painted over this weekend and let's pray that I will only have to touch up spots and not have to paint the entire ceiling. Trim, let's not even talk about her; just know that it can't be avoided. Those are the big projects, besides that I'm going to take on my first ever furniture DIY with the bookshelf. So i'm excited to take off and get back to what I love to do!

p.s. I also found a lot of crafts that has been hiding in the room. Maybe you will see that down the line soon also (if the pollen doesn't kill me first).
